Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, and essayist whose Treasure Island (1883), Kidnapped (1886), Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886), and essays in Virginibus Puerisque established him as one of the most beloved writers of the Victorian era. He suffered from severe respiratory illness throughout his life and spent his final four years in Samoa, where he was known as 'Tusitala' (Teller of Tales). He died at forty-four of a cerebral haemorrhage. The Samoans carried his body up Mount Vaea to bury him at the summit.
