Gan Bao

Gan Bao (干寶) was a Jin dynasty historian and writer who compiled the Soushen Ji (搜神記, Records of the Supernatural) — a collection of stories about gods, ghosts, spirits, and supernatural events that is the most important anthology of Chinese supernatural fiction and a foundational document of the Chinese ghost-story tradition. He worked as an official historian and his compilation of supernatural tales was partly motivated by his attempt to demonstrate the reality of the spirit world.
