Paul Carus

Paul Carus was a German-American philosopher, editor, and author who founded and edited The Open Court and The Monist — two journals that were important venues for philosophy of science and comparative religion in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He wrote numerous books attempting to reconcile science and religion, and introduced Chinese philosophy to American audiences through translations and studies.
