John Galsworthy

John Galsworthy was a British novelist and playwright who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1932. His Forsyte Saga trilogy (1906-1921) — a portrait of a prosperous English upper-middle-class family across three generations — became enormously popular, especially in the BBC television adaptations. His plays, including Strife (1909), Justice (1910), and The Silver Box (1906), were important examples of Edwardian social drama and influenced Shaw. He gave his Nobel Prize money to PEN International.
