W. B. Yeats

W. B. Yeats was the supreme Irish poet and one of the most important English-language poets of the twentieth century, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923. His career spanned from the Celtic Twilight romanticism of 'The Lake Isle of Innisfree' through the political intensity of 'Easter, 1916' and the apocalyptic symbolism of 'The Second Coming' to the philosophical grandeur of 'Sailing to Byzantium' and 'Among School Children.' He co-founded the Abbey Theatre, served as an Irish Free State Senator, and developed an elaborate personal mythology encoded in A Vision.
