Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Thomas Bailey Aldrich was an American poet, novelist, and editor who served as editor of the Atlantic Monthly (1881-1890). His autobiographical novel The Story of a Bad Boy (1869) is considered a precursor to Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer. His poetry was technically polished and in the tradition of the 'Fireside Poets,' and he was well regarded in his time though his reputation has since faded considerably.
