Troilus and Cressida
by William Shakespeare from c. 1601–02
About
Set during the Trojan War, the play follows the doomed romance between the Trojan prince Troilus and the Trojan woman Cressida, whose exchange to the Greek camp puts her fidelity to an impossible test. Against a backdrop of disillusioned heroes, political cynicism, and unheroic combat, idealism about love and war is systematically dismantled.
