The Metamorphoses of Ovid, Books I-VII
by Ovid from c. 8 CE
About
Ovid's Metamorphoses (c. 8 CE) is the supreme collection of mythological transformation stories — 250 myths organized around the theme of change — and one of the most influential poems in Western literature. Books I-VII include the Creation, Daphne and Apollo, Narcissus, Pyramus and Thisbe, and the Medea narrative. Riley's prose translation makes these accessible; as group reading, individual myths (15-30 minutes) work as standalone readings.
Translated from the original Latin by Henry Thomas Riley.
