Hesiod, the Homeric Hymns, and Homerica

by Hesiod from c. 700 BCE

About

This volume collects the foundational texts of Greek mythology in Evelyn-White's translations: Hesiod's Theogony (the genealogy of the gods) and Works and Days (practical and moral wisdom in verse), alongside the Homeric Hymns — thirty-three poems in the Homeric manner addressed to individual gods, some of considerable beauty and length. These texts are the primary sources for Greek religion and mythology and offer some of the oldest surviving Greek poetry. The Homeric Hymn to Demeter and the Hymn to Apollo are particularly rich as reading texts.

Translated from the original Greek.
