The Winter's Tale

by William Shakespeare from c. 1610–11

About

King Leontes of Sicilia is consumed by a sudden jealous conviction that his wife Hermione has been unfaithful with his friend Polixenes. His tyranny causes the deaths of his son and, apparently, his wife, while his newborn daughter Perdita is abandoned in Bohemia—only to be restored to him sixteen years later in a scene of improbable but moving reconciliation.
